Windows and doors determine how a building interacts with its environment. Windows permit a view of the outside world, while doors govern its access. These architectural features reveal much about the history of a building, as well as the tastes and attitudes of its inhabitants.

The windows and doors of Kolmanskop are the last cultural remnants of a German diamond mining community established in the harsh Namibian desert 100 years ago. Amazingly, many decorative features remain as the brutal winds and sands slowly destroy the buildings.

This 2 x 3 foot poster is a collection of 15 Kolmanskop windows and doors. It is printed on a 275 gsm silk paper and be purchased unframed or framed in black with non-reflective glass.
