Snowy owls are amongst the largest owls on the planet and the only owl species with predominently white plumage. During the summer, they breed in the arctic tundra, where their breeding success is determined by the availability of lemmings.

During the winter, snowy owls fly southwards to Russia, Scandinavia, Canada and northern parts of the United States. When the supplies of lemmings are good, the snowy owl population increases dramatically in an 'irruption' event. In the winter, irruptions increase competition for food, forcing many snowy owls to fly farther south to countries that include Great Britain.

I photographed this snowy owl resting in a Canadian cornfield in January 2022. I am now offering it as a 60 x 60 cm print in a signed, limited edition of 10. It is professionally printed on 300 gsm Fotospeed paper and can be purchased unframed, framed or mounted on aluminum with matt paper. The framed option here uses a 1 cm black wood and non-reflective glass. The total framed size is 78 x 78 cm.
