The Kīlauea volcano on the Big Island of  Hawaii is one of the most active volcanos on earth and has been erupting continuously since 1921. It erupts both from its central cauldron and various lava vents that flow into the Pacific Ocean.

I photographed these lava vents in 2016, just after Hurricane Madeline had passed through and was creating particularly high waves. In 2018, this lava vent broke and fell into the sea during a period of exceptionally high volcanic activity that destroyed an entire Hawaian village and the Big Island's largest fresh water lake.

Kīlauea lava flow at dawn has received several awards, including a bronze medal at the Royal Photographic Society's 2022 nature exhibition and the Paul Keene judges' award at the Surrey Photographic Society's 2020 annual exhibition.

I am now offering Kīlauea lava flow at dawn as a 60 x 80 cm print in a signed, limited edition of 10. It is professionally printed on 300 gsm a smooth cotton rag Fotospeed paper and can be purchased unframed, framed or mounted on aluminium with a matt paper finish. The framed viersion here uses a 1 cm black wooden frame and non-reflective glass. Its total size is 78 x 98 cm.
