The short-eared owl is one of five owl species that reside in the UK. While some short-eared owls live here year-round, most only visit during the winter months, to escape the cold climates of their breeding grounds in northern Scandinavia.
I photographed this short-eared owl in December of 2020, when it was 'cruisin' for voles over a wetland area of North Essex.
Cruisin' is currently available as a 48 by 36 cm print in a signed, limited edition of 10. It is professionally printed on 300 gsm smooth cotton Fotospeed and can be purchased unframed or framed. The framed images here use a 3.5 cm black wooden frame and non-reflective glass. The total size is 71 by 59 cm.
